Oli Sykes wrote a song about a previous relationship where he was betrayed by his lover. He no longer wanted to deal with her and believed he would take revenge because Karma couldn't escape.

Sykes explained to Kerrang! : "True Friends' is about certain people who really cut me off. To be honest, this applies to a lot of people I've known throughout my life. I don't hold any hatred or anger towards anyone, because it's too draining,"

I discovered this song when i realized my girlfriend of that time was sleeping with other guys and not gonna lie this song was fitting and keeping me up. Love the song.

That intro is powerful af. The powerful riff and the omnious orchestral strings behind it definitely suits the whole idea of a sad abusive relationship. This whole video hits hard with the music.

True Friends is my favorite BMTH lyrics so far

The father is abusive towards both his daughter and his wife, which ends with his wife killing herself. The daughter almost does the same thing. The father has an affair with the wife of the man he meets in the bar. That´s why he blames the father for ending his marriage, although they didn't have a good marriage to start with. Another reason for the mothers suicide could've been that she knew about her husbands affair. The person behind the horse and the other messages is the daughter, because she wants revenge on her father. The father finds the woman he had an affair with in his garage and gets sad and also scared I would guess. His daughter killed her because she knew about the affair and wanted her gone as well as her father. She then kills her father by hitting him in the back of the head, not the front. Because they are not true friends. The reason why we can't hear the father speak might be because he doesn't confront people directly, he doesn't stab people in the front so to say. This is just a theory. There's a lot of theories but I don't know which one to believe in.

so the main character is a detective troubled with anger issues. in the past, he stole his wife from the other man in the bar, but as the other man said, "he lost her". the detective's marriage thus also falls apart and in one of the many angry fights, he kills his wife, buries her somewhere and claimed she was missing. however, the only person who truly knew was his daughter, who he repeatedly abused in the time after the wife's death. she contemplates suicide, but decides that revenge is the only way. thus she mutilated the horses, left the spray painted signs foreshadowing her father's demise, leaves a message calling him a murderer and finds her mothers buried body. she sits her mothers corpse up, shown by the wedding ring, and lures him into the trap, where she finally takes her revenge on her murderous abusive father.

When he was talking with the other man, he thought he was talking about murdering the wife, not hitting the girl. At the end the daughter sits her murdered mother, the father sees it and she appears. She strikes him in the back, not the front, because they weren't true friends

It's honestly getting really annoying reading half of these comments because a lot of you who claim you're "old fans" of bmth keep on dissing their new stuff. Yeah, I understand their older stuff like Suicide Season is different from their most recent stuff like That's The Spirit and I also like their older stuff more but I still appreciate their new music and you don't have to complain about it being different on every fucking video. If you're a real fan just learn to appreciate all of their music because it's completely normal for any bands music to change over the years. Does anyone agree with me?

The dad is a detective who beats his daughter to the point of near suicide. The daughter, looking for revenge, then puts together a whole case for him to investigate, including the dead horses, the writing in the garage, and finally at the station. Once he arrives at the station, she's waiting for him, and kills him by striking him with an axe in the back. (Not the front, because they weren't True Friends.)

Absolutely love the new music style of Bring me the Horizon, some are complaining but this has to be my favourite album. Best lyrics I've heard in a long time and Ollie really shows his vocals off and it really shows how this band has matured. Can't wait to see you live in February, keeping going BMTH.
